The ancient healing system of yoga has become increasingly popular in modern times due to its ability to induce a calm mind and a healthy body.
The most commonly taught form of yoga is hatha. The two syllables ‘ha’ and ‘tha’ refer to the sun and the moon. Hatha is the practice of balancing the fiery, active energies and the cooling, passive energies that we all contain.
In yoga classes we focus on positions (asanas), breathing to calm the mind, and correct body alignment. Students will be shown how to find the correct position for their body, in which the breath can flow in and out. We teach students to work gently, accepting where they are today and moving forwards with ease.
